Some of Tim's previous and current matters at the Bar include:

  • acting for the plaintiffs in the NSW Supreme Court test case that ultimately led to the withdrawal of every COVID-19 penalty notice issued during the pandemic (approximately 60,000 fines, worth about $55m) (led by K Richardson SC);

 

  • acting for Senator Pauline Hanson, previously in her successful defence of defamation proceedings in which she proved that the plaintiff senator had sexually abused his staff member (led by S Chrysanthou SC), and now in her constitutional challenge to s 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act (led by S Chrysanthou SC and P Herzfeld SC);
     

  • acting for Candace Owens in her High Court constitutional challenge to a provision of the Migration Act relied on by the Minister of Home Affairs to prevent her entry into Australia (led by P Herzfeld SC);
     

  • acting for actress Charlotte MacInnes in her Federal Court defamation proceedings against Rebel Wilson for accusations relating to their participation in the movie The Deb (led by S Chrysanthou SC)
     

  • acting for a former Australian platoon commander in successful Federal Court defamation proceedings against the ABC for falsely accusing him of involvement in war crimes (led by S Chrysanthou SC and N Olson)

 

  • acting for a group of retirees who were allegedly defrauded by their financial advisor in Federal Court proceedings against various financial advisory firms (unled);

 

  • acting for a complainant of childhood sexual abuse in Federal Court proceedings against the prestigious private school that employed the alleged perpetrator (unled);
